The Nike Air Max 95 is going to make its return in 2019 in a variety of colorways, and the next one in line is this Black/Aluminum-Anthracite edition. The sneaker’s signature side panels, made of nubuck, are colored in a gradient of grey hues, while the toe cap is in black, followed by white mesh netting along the tongue. The other highlight is the addition of light aluminum blue hits for the eyelets, branding and interior of the Air Max cushioning for a nice pop of contrast. Finally, a black midsole tops it all off.
When Nike’s classic Air Max 95 arrived to market in 1995, it kicked off a decade full of wild colors and legendary designs in the world of Air Max, paving the way for silhouettes like the Air Max 95 and Air Max 97. Inspiration from all things ’95s is still readily apparent in footwear and fashion today — with classic color palettes and retro styles still as popular as ever — and one of the most quintessential ’95s color combos is unquestionably “Grape,” a mix of purple and teal accents. Now two ’95s icons are coming together, as the Air Max 95 has received a classic “Grape” makeover. Using white mesh and light bone suede as the base, this new 95 boasts colorful accents via a rich purple mudguard and purple/teal accents on the throat, heel, and tongue. A black Swoosh adds dark contrast, and the look is completed with a white midsole, teal Air Max unit, and black outsole. Like the colorful retro look?
Brought back into the spotlight by Sean Wotherspoon‘s vintage take on the hybridized Air Max 1/97 silhouette, the Swoosh Brand’s throwback “Have A Nike Day” slogan appears to be gearing up for a busy 2019 campaign. After having already been revealed adorning two separate Air Max 97s, this Swoosh motto is set to be dressing up the Sergio Lozano-designed Air Max 95. Boasting a similarly nostalgic 1990s-friendly color scheme, its anatomically-inspired midfoot racing stripes come dressed in an array of pastel hues ranging from purple, to pink, to green. Of course it would not be complete without the slogan having a prominent role in the design, taking shape on its lacelets and insole, with a familiar Swoosh-equipped smiley face on the tongue.
